Acetaminophen (Tylenol®) Dosage Chart

Acetaminophen (Tylenol®) is an effective medicine for relieving fever and pain in children. Here is a convenient acetaminophen dosage chart for your use.

There are currently two acetaminophen products available for children. Infants’ Acetaminophen Suspension liquid and Children’s Acetaminophen Elixir. They both contain same strength suspension: 160mg per 5mL. You will find these under the brand name Infants’ Tylenol® Suspension and Children’s Tylenol® Oral Suspension. There are also chewable and melt-away tablets available for older children.

These are also available as a generic drug (acetaminophen).  The generics are just as effective as the brand name and usually less expensive.

As always, if you have any questions – ask your local pharmacist.

Helpful Conversions:  1kg = 2.2 lbs.   5mL (milliliters) = 1 tsp (teaspoonful)  mg=milligram

* If your infant is younger than 3 months old, consult your pediatrician before giving them any medication, including acetaminophen.
** Dosing should be based on your childs weight; age is used as a guideline – usually when we do not know the weight.  Always use a dropper, oral syringe, or cup with clear markings.  Do not use household utensils to measure a dose because they can vary.
